Whimsical sculpture by internationally known artist Saulo Moreno Hernández. Not sure if he is admiring her or pleading! In very good vintage condition. Signed under base. See photos.
Born in Mexico City in 1933, Moreno later settled in Tlalpujahua, Michoacán. He primarily worked with wire, paper, and soldered metal to create wonderful creatures often with a Dia de los Muertos theme. He called his creations alambroides. His work is widely collected and has been included in several international exhibitions including ‘El Día de los Muertos: The Life of the Dead in Mexican Folk Art’ at the Fort Worth Art Museum and London's Serpentine Gallery. Photographs of Moreno's work are featured in a number of Mexican folk art books.
