Orange and green Mexican mosaic saucer or trinket plate with hand-cut vintage Tlaquepaque pottery piece (a campesino resting from a hard day of work) and accent tiles. Center piece was salvaged from a broken 1940s Mexican tourist pottery plate — giving it new life! Uniquely charming!
Use it as a special place to put rings, keys or other little treasures! Or display it on a plate stand.
6" diam. x 1" tall
PROCESS: A terra cotta saucer was used as the base. Hand-cut pottery pieces and tiles were applied to the pot. The pot was grouted and then sealed with a professional grade sealant to resist water and stains.
RECOMMENDED USE: If used outdoors, the saucer should be brought indoors in freezing temperatures or in periods of extended rain. Hand-cut tiles sometimes have sharp edges so please handle with care.
NOTE: I collect Mexican folk art and Mexican pottery. Through the years, thanks to one mishap or another, I have amassed a few broken pieces that I am now incorporating into my mosaics. The old Mexican shards are getting a nueva vida (new life). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do making them!
