This classic mid 19th century retablo depicts San Ysidro Labrador, the patron Saint of Farmers. The retablo is attributed to the "Kamikaze" painter who is known for his classic black birds dropping from the sky. It is in excellent condition. The frame is new and features museum-quality ultraviolet-filtering glass.
Farmers pray to San Ysidro for good weather and a bountiful crop. Legend has it that God orderded San Ysidro to rest on the Sabbath. San Ysidro had a lot of work and chose not to obey. Instead he accepted God's offer of an angel (always shown as a small figure) to help him complete his work.
