Beautiful Early California church scene by Hernando Villa (1881-1952). Villa was a commercial artist and easel painter and best known for his work for the Santa Fe Railway. He was born in Los Angeles and studied at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design. Villa established himself as a commercial artist including a long career with the Santa Fe Railroad. There he created his iconic emblem of the Santa Fe Chief.
